The PIQE:

Parent Institute for Quality Education is a program that provides families with the knowledge and skills to partner with schools and the community to ensure children achieve their full potential. PIQE teaches parents to take on a participatory role in their children’s education and it teaches leadership skills that help parents achieve
educational goals for the entire family.

All classes will be held at the school cafeteria unless otherwise noted on the flyer that will be distributed before each event.

Nurturing Parenting Classes:
This nurturing parenting class will focus on the development of empathy, self-worth, self-awareness, empowerment, discipline with dignity, appropriate family roles, and age-appropriate expectations of children’s development.
Topics covered will be *positive discipline*child safety*reducing power struggles*building self-esteem*child
development* setting routines*managing anger*neglect

School Social Workers Hour of Power:
These presentations for parents are short but very beneficial in gathering helpful strategies and tips in dealing with your children’s behavior challenges. Removing these challenges is the first step to increasing your child’s academic success. School social workers are trained mental health professionals ready to support your child overcome some of their social and emotional needs. These presentations are given in English and Spanish.
Topics include:

Stop by the Parent Center to learn how to obtain personalized access to your child’s important information such as grades, attendance, class schedules, missing assignments, and state CAASPP report. Aeries Parent Portal and Parent Square keep parents up to date with what is happening in the district and your child’s school.

Parent Advisory Committee:
The School Parent Advisory Committee’s role is to provide advice and assistance to school administrators and educators relating to the Academic Achievement Plan, programs, activities, resources and services in order to help the school attain its goal of providing each child with the best education possible.

District English Learner Advisory Committee:
Learn about the role that DELAC plays in advising the schools in the English Learner Program services. Be part of a team-building committee to support our students in our schools. No experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome to attend however only member representatives from each school site can vote.

CABE Conference:
California Association for Bilingual Education is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1976 to promote bilingual education. Parents can attend the conference to learn about new laws that affect our bilingual students and learn more about ELD principals and resources.
